Hardness of surface-densified wood. Part 1: material or product property?

Abstract The established methods for testing the hardness of wood are questionable value assessing performance surface-densified wood, since density profile beneath densified surface is an important property that needs to be considered. purpose this study was evaluate influence and test parameters, such as indenter geometry applied load on measured hardness. varied considerably depending parameters. This can make a comparison values prone misinterpretation. selection parameters should either product-specific, or itself used wood. A strong indentation depth development during tests indicates possibility predicting based methods.
